Summary/Objective:
Safely and efficiently operate mobile equipment in the production of ready-mix concrete and concrete building materials.  Inspect, service, and clean equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate diesel gasoline, liquefied gas or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with a front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop and/or lifting devices such as forks, boom, scoop, lift beam, swivel hook, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform or trailer hitch.
  • Use equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers or chutes, and load trucks or railcars.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Ensures equipment is safely and mechanically sound and maintains cleanliness to Company standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all environmental, health, safety & training policies, procedures, and requirements.

Competencies:
  • Qualified to operate forklift and/or cuber.
  • In addition to the forklift and cuber, is qualified to operate the block machine and/or front-end loader.
  • Leadman: in addition to being qualified to operate all types of equipment, directs the work of other equipment operators.

Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and report vehicle condition at beginning and end of shift.
  • Check all vehicle fluid levels daily and add fluids if necessary.
  • Fuel vehicle as needed.
  • Clean outside of vehicle to ensure absence of concrete build-up throughout each shift.
  • May assist mechanics in vehicle repair.

Other:
  • Maintain daily reports as required by Company regulations.
  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of yard, plant, and office.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
Work is performance outside, with exposure to the various weather temperatures.  This position requires knowledge and awareness of construction site hazards.

Physical Demands:
  • Protective gear will be required to protect against exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous materials.
  • Will be required to regularly lift components of up to 50lbs.
  • Overtime and weekend work required dependent on business need.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday.  Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in operating of various types of fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of somewhat technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
  • Must have excellent defensive driving skills and the ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations in performance of duties.
  • Must have the ability to clean all areas of equipment.
  • Must be willing to work varying shifts and must be punctual in adhering to established start times.
  • Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team.
